PDF solution

Hi All,

I’m working on insurance company, gotten requirement to setup a new web-service based application to cater as follow:

• Printing high volume of .pdf files, with Xerox or Canon business class printer
• Merging .pdf/ .tiff files into a .pdf file
• Convert office document into .pdf file
• Convert postscript file into .pdf and vice versa
• Print to designated tray/drawer/paper source, each file/page
• Form filling text  (on Acroform field) on pre-printed .pdf file
• Superimpose text on pre-printed .pdf file
• Split a .pdf file into multiple file for each page

We are considering to purchase DynamicPDF Core Suite, DynamicPDF PrintManager, DynamicPDF Converter to cater those above. Please advise us on
1) What is the recommended system requirement for hardware/server/software?
2) What about throughput that we can estimate on printjob send to printer or .pdf output? Maybe just experience your experience.
3) Is there any feature to convert postscript file into .pdf and vice versa?
4) How to Superimpose text on pre-printed .pdf file?
5) Does any possible/common problem on implementation as web service?
6) Is it possible to deploy application on Virtual Server?

Please see my answers below for the questions you had.

1. There are no specific hardware requirements to use our DynamicPDF Core Suite for .NET and PrintManager for .NET product. As far as the software requirements are concerned, you would need .NET Framework for both the products. For PrintManager if you are just deploying the PrintManager dll (without installing the MSI) to the production machine then you would need to install the Microsoft VC++ Redistributable Package, see below.

For ceTe.DynamicPDF.Printing.20.x64.dll or ceTe.DynamicPDF.Printing.35.x64.dll use Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x64)

For ceTe.DynamicPDF.Printing.20.x86.dll or ceTe.DynamicPDF.Printing.35.x86.dll use Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable Package (x86)

For ceTe.DynamicPDF.Printing.40.x64.dll use Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64)

For ceTe.DynamicPDF.Printing.40.x86.dll use Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x86)

For DynamicPDF Converter for .NET to work you would need .NET Framework v2.0 or above installed and you would also need to install the Converter MSI on your machine. If you are trying to convert the MS Office documents to PDF then you will need to have MS Office software installed in your system. For more info please refer the documentation on file conversion requirements.
Also refer to the operating system requirements.   

2. The amount of data sent to the printer via the print job depends on the size and contents of the PDF document. I advise you to download the evaluation version of the PrintManager a try it out.

3. It is not possible to convert post script file to PDF and PDF to postscript using our DynamicPDF Converter product. Please refer to the supported file types. 

4. You can add text and any new contents to the already existing PDF document using the DynamicPDF Core Suite product. You will need to use Label, TextArea to add the text to the PDF document. You can access the pages in the PDF document using the index of the page. Please refer the documentation on adding new contents to the PDF document. 

5. You can use our DynamicPDF products to develop .NET web service without any problem. We have not come across any issues with using our DynamicPDF products in a web service.
