DynamicPDF CoreSuite for COM/ActiveX (v8) Forum

Hi, we are changing servers and I installed my licensed version of DynamicPDF on the new Development server.  Then I went in to the cete serial number registration page and got a new Development license serial number for new server, I revised the DynamicPDF.dat license file, and placed the revised DynamicPDF.dat file in the \bin folder of Development server.

Now, on the old Production server (which is still running until we get the new server operational) the pdf's generated by DynamicPDF have the watermark on them!  The Production server still has the original Production license file.  Why would the watermark be appearing on the Production server, and how can I remove it?

Hello Jim,

Licensing a development server will not affect old production server that has already been licensed successfully.

Some of the reasons why your production server may start showing the watermark are:
1. Computer name of the production server changed for some reason (the license keys are specific to the computer name of the server, if that changes the license key will get invalidated).
2.  Features used in code are not covered by the license you have.

Please email the following information to support@cete.com so we can determine the reason why the watermark is being added on your production server.

1. A copy of the watermarked PDF generated on your production server.
2. Production server’s license file (DynamicPDF.dat).
3. Version of DynamicPDF installed on the production server.
4. A screenshot of the production servers computer properties that shows the computer name of the server.

Thanks,
ceTe Software Support Team.

Follow up - I figured out that when I copied the DynamicPDF.dat file to the new server, I copied the wrong one...I sent the old production server dat file to the new server (different server name).  Would that somehow invalidate the old license?  If yes, how do I fix it?

I did upload the new development dat file to the new server but I guess it's too late...the water mark is still on the old server.  Does it take a reboot or anything to kick start the production server to recognize the license?

Thanks for your help.

Hello Jim,

The old production server dat file will not work on the new server but that would not invalidate the production dat file that is already installed on the production server. We have looked at the info you emailed us and it appears that the watermark on the production server is happing due to an incorrect license being used. The numbers [1:0:s1:v8.0] that appear on the PDF generated on production indicate that the license key used on the production server is created with a computer name that does not match the production server’s computer name. Please double check and make sure you are using the correct license (dat file) on production server. Any time you end up replacing the dat file on the server you would want to restart the IIS so the new license takes effect.

Thanks,
ceTe Software Support Team.

Hi Team,

Could you please assist me with how can I remove the watermark in the pdf document. I have been using the library to merge pdf files into 1 single file which gets created with the watermark at the bottom of each page. Do I need to buy the license in order to get rid of the watermark?  if yes, please help me with the best plan which I can purchase.

Thanks and Regards,
Shalina Gupta

Hi Shalina,

Yes, in order to avoid the watermark on the merged output PDF, you will need to apply a license key to the application.  Pricing and licensing information can be found on our website here.

If you have any other questions about licensing or need assistance with a purchase, please contact our sales team at sales@dynamicpdf.com.

Thanks,
