Requirements

To be able to convert Word and Excel files to PDF, is it enough to install just Word and Excel, or do you have to install all Office programs?

An other question. The server I will run this component on is old 2008 R2 and also we have Office 2010. What do you recomend, should I gamle with installing the latest version or cold you supply me with an older version that supports 2008 R2 and Office 2010?

Hi Stefan,

We recommend using the versions from this page since they are actively tested. We could provide an older version, but wouldn't recommend using that since recent office updates would likely make it unreliable. If you must use Windows Server 2008 and Office 2010, feel free to try it with the current version to see if it will meet your needs. If not though, you're best bet would be to update to the supported versions starting with the Office version, and then the OS version if you're still having issues.

I know that it's not supported, but do you think it's possible that the conversion service will work with Office 365?

When testing conversion with Word 2010 I noticed that the PDF-fils got quite large.
If I convert a 128 KB Word file with DynamicPDF converter, the PDF-file size is 304KB.
If Instead use Microsoft's PDF printer, the PDF-file size is 287KB.
If I save it as PDF, the file size is 196KB.
If I use PDF-XChanges PDF printer the PDF-file size is just 16KB.
So my question is,
1. Is there any settings I can chang to reduce the file size?
2. This was done with Word 2010 installed, do you know if using Word 2016 the file size gets smaller?

Hello Stefan,

DynamicPDF Converter doesn’t officially support Office 365. Updates to Office 365 can sometimes cause the conversion process to stop working. We recommend using the 32 bit version of Microsoft Office 2016.

DynamicPDF Converter uses the locally installed MS Office software when converting MS Office files to PDF. The output PDF file size is dependent on how MS Office handles the conversions. There is no option in DynamicPDF Converter to control the output PDF file size.

Hi,

I have moved my web application to a new server, Windows Server 2019. I have installed Word 2016 and Excel 2016. I'm using version 3.5.0.43015. But now the conversion doesn't work. The code run previously on a Windows 2008R2 server with Office 2010 installed also the Conversion Service installed. I'v used version 2 and 3 on the old server and it has worked.
I then installed the Conversion Service v 3.08 on the new server but it didn't help.
If I look in the eventlog there is no errors and the application throws no errors.
Any ideas what can be wrong?
